What is CLCC?

The Camden Listening and Counselling Centre is a charity that was founded in 1998 by members of the local community as a reaction to the number of people in the Camden area that suffer from mental health and emotional issues. The Centre offers crisis listening at the time of need, and followed up with professional counselling over 12 sessions.

Charitable Aims

CLCC is a counselling agency. Our object is to preserve and enhance the mental, emotional and psychological health of people over the age of 18 in Camden and the surrounding areas by the provision of a variety of listening, counselling and other therapeutic services and activities as the trustees may deem fit from time to time to provide. We provide:
A free same-day crisis listening and low cost counselling service aimed mainly at the socially deprived, but for anyone in trouble or in need; and to offer follow-up counselling for a maximum of 12 weekly sessions if requested.
Placements for student counsellors who are completing a recognised diploma or post-graduate training course in counselling.
Volunteering opportunities with training and support to those interested in working at the reception area in welcoming and assisting clients, as well as members of the public who visit the Centre for information.
The Centre is in Camden Town in North London. It was founded in 1998 as a free service for people in need of counselling and unable to afford the fees usually charged by counsellors. The Centre’s uniqueness lies in the Open-Door policy whereby anyone who is in distress, trouble or in need can usually see a counsellor immediately.
